Philips 2010 TVs in outline

In 2010 Philips will continue to improve most of their technologies, and one of these technologies is Ambilight. The new big thing from Philips this year is 3D and in particular the launch of the 3D Cinema 21:9.

Philips exhibited some 3D prototypes at IFA 2009 and now Philips is (according to themselves) taking the next step towards their philosophy involving the"ultimate cinematic experience” at home. Thus, Philips will be launching several 3DTV in 2010.

Philips will be taking a little different approach at 3D, though. Philips will be launching so-called 3D Ready TVs that can be upgraded to 3DTVs with an 3D Upgrade Pack later on. The 3D pack contains a 3D IR transmitter and two 3D glasses. Most 3D glasses can be bought separately.

Philips will also take online content to a new level this year. With the improved NET TV service you will have access to a lot of different services from different providers. And if that’s not enough you can jump to the integrated Internet Browser in the NET TV enabled Philips TVs.
Services are different from country to country.

LED is a huge part of the 2010 line-up as well and the new 9705H will feature the LED Pro system just like the 9704H did. We were not too happy about the LED Pro system on 9704H, though, so we hope Philips has made an effort to improve LED Pro.
The 9705H will also feature a new Bright Pro system that is an addition to the LED Pro in order to reach those very bright peak level brightness levels. Finally, it incorporates 400 Hz which is 200 Hz frame interpolation and scanning backlights.

Most of the new ranges will feature DLNA, too. And Philips has promised that codec support has improved compared to the 2009 models.
