Element is betting on more than one horse. After launching the first ‘Fire TV Edition’ set in partnership with Amazon earlier this year, it is now joining the Roku camp by launching a 4K Roku TV.

Roku is signing up new partners fast. Earlier this week it added Philips (in the US) to its roster, and it is now joined by Element.
- ”In addition to all the great shopping deals you have another reason to look forward to Cyber Monday (November 27) this year. That’s the day the first 4K Ultra HD Element Roku TV with High Dynamic Range (HDR) will be at Walmart!,” said Chas Smith, SVP for OEM, Roku.
The 50-inch Roku LCD TV comes with 4K resolution and support for High Dynamic Range in the form of HDR10. It builds on the Roku OS, offering the full user interface and access to over 5000 apps from Roku’s store. It will later this year receive the Roku OS 8 update and “receive regular automatic software updates” in the future.
- "Roku TV offers a simple remote and user interface, making it a great choice for anyone who wants to enjoy today's wide variety of entertainment available online," said Vlad Kazhdan, VP of merchandising at Element.
The move is noteworthy because Element has already partnered with Amazon to offer a TV with the FireTV platform baked in. Amazon and Roku are seen as direct competitors in the TV space. The companies are following the same route by selling stand-alone streaming players and licensing their respective platforms to manufacturers of TVs.
The Element 4K Roku TV will be available at Walmart beginning on November 27. Pricing details were not announced.
