Apple released their 27-inch iMac some time ago but a lot of people wanted to know if a non-Mac version of the monitor was on its way. According to insiders Apple has now planned a 27-inch LED Cinema Display with the same 2560x1440 IPS panel that is used in the 27-inch iMac for launch in June.

The 27-inch LED Cinema Display will utilize the same IPS panel with a massive resolution of 2560x1440 pixels in 16:9. The panel will also incorporate a LED backlight that should reduce power consumption considerably.
The IPS panel technology is regarded as a quality panel technology suited for graphic work. The same kind of IPS panel is used in the current 24-inch LED Cinema Display as well as the Dell U2410 and U2711 monitors.

Thanks to the success of the 27-inch iMac the 27-inch LED Cinema Display is believed to be marketed more affordably. Apple had some issues with a yellow tint and flickering on some of their 27-inch iMac but these problems seems to have been resolved.
According to the same sources the 27-inch LED Cinema Display will be available in June 2010. No pricing yet.
