At CES Panasonic unveiled their new LED & and plasma TVs, but they had also brought a much smaller 20-inch LCD panel, with an impressive resolution of 3840x2160 pixels – also called 4K.

At CES Panasonic emphasized that they too can compete in the market for small display panels with their newly developed 20-inch panel with 4K resolution. It is not an actual product but can eventually be built into PC monitors.
Panasonic’s 4K 20-inch LCD panel
The 20.4 inch panel is based on Panasonic's own IPS Pro LCD panel technology and is the first to utilize 3840x2160 pixels – often referred to as 4K resolution – in such as small screen size. That equals a pixel density of 216 (pixels per inch). The pixel density is not as high as on the iPhone 4S’s 316 ppi LCD panel - that is often used as reference - but it is still very impressive. Panasonic also says that the panel is just 3.5 millimeters in depth.
The LCD panel is most likely part of Panasonic’s plan to enter the small-to-medium size display market. Panasonic recently closed 2 TV factories and will buy LCD-TV panels from other LCD manufactures. Instead they want to focus on manufacturing of smaller LCD panels for handheld devices, as well as plasma TVs.
