Asus has unveiled a new 27-inch monitor for a later 2012 release. Named VA278Q, the monitor utilizes an IPS panel with 2560x1440 pixel resolution and LED backlight.

IPS based monitors have become increasingly popular and Asus has now announced a new 27-inch model called VA278Q.

The monitor is aimed at photographers, graphic artists or discerning users. The IPS panel offers better color accuracy and picture characteristics compared to standard monitors with TN panels, and Asus also underlines that the pixel pitch is 25 % smaller compared to Full HD 27-inch monitors.

Asus VA278Q offers a 2560x1440 resolution in the 16:9 format, and a LED backlight. Asus also mentions 100 % sRGB gamut support and 178/178 degree viewing angles. Connectivity options are DisplayPort and dual-link DVI. The ergonomic base also features tilt, pivot, swivel and height adjustments.
Asus VA278Q will be available later this year. The actual launch date and pricing details have not been disclosed.
