LG has released a new app for Apple iOS and Google Android smartphones and tablets. The app allows users to stream TV channels from their TV screen onto their smartphone or tablet screen. It also acts as a remote control.

LG already has a remote app but the new LG Magic app introduces new functionality for owners of LG’s 2012 Smart TVs.

The main feature of the Magic app is the remote control function that works with LG’s 2012 TVs. An extended feature is the TouchPad that acts as an on-screen mouse that controls a cursor over on the TV screen. A MiniHome section in the app allows users to access TV apps with a few actions, and an on-screen keyboard is also available.

The most significant new feature is the MiniTV function that enables users to stream TV channels from the TV screen onto a smartphone or tablet screen with the app installed. It obviously requires both devices to be on the same home network and LG says that MiniTV is also available on dual-core Smart TVs (LM9600 and LM8600)

LG’s Magic app can be downloaded for Apple iOS here and for Google Android here.
