Asus has announced two new IPS based monitors in 23 and 27 inch sizes. The monitors are slimmer than ever and the bezel has been reduced to a minimum. “Inspired by sundials”, says Asus.

We are happy to see Asus abandon the TN panels for their Designo range because that is exactly what has happened with the two latest additions to the line-up. The 23 and 27 inch Designo monitor come with IPS panels.

Dubbed MX239H and MX279H, Asus promises an edge-to-edge design “inspired by sundials” - the base, that is. The depth of the monitors measure just 14.5 and 17.5 mm, respectively. The IPS panels are lit by edge LED which also helps to reduce power consumption compared to traditional monitors.
