Apple continues to see increasing sales of the small Apple TV box. During the just concluded fiscal 2012 Apple reported 5 million Apple TV sales. Sales have almost doubled compared to fiscal 2011. Apple now calls it a “beloved hobby”.

How much do you make from your hobbies? Half a billion US dollars? No? Well, Apple does with the Apple TV that is now upgraded to a “beloved hobby” after sales have almost doubled from 2.8 million last year to 5 million.
Apple TV sales have almost doubled
The Apple TV continues to be popular with Apple owners as it can add new internet functionality to the living room TV screen by offering streaming services, integration with Apple services, AirPlay and more.
Compared to the other products from Cupertino, the Apple TV still represents a very small segment but Apple sees potential saying
"it's a beloved hobby, but we continue to focus on it, and believe there's something there".
Earlier this year rumors started swirling about an
app store for the Apple TV box but so far the rumor has failed to materialize.
