Apple TV sales have almost doubled

The Apple TV continues to be popular with Apple owners as it can add new internet functionality to the living room TV screen by offering streaming services, integration with Apple services, AirPlay and more.

Compared to the other products from Cupertino, the Apple TV still represents a very small segment but Apple sees potential saying "it's a beloved hobby, but we continue to focus on it, and believe there's something there".

Earlier this year rumors started swirling about an app store for the Apple TV box but so far the rumor has failed to materialize.
