Sharp has launched a new 20-inch multi-touch monitor, optimized for Windows 8. The monitor has 10 simultaneous touch points and can either stand or lie flat on the table for use with a pen.

Sharp’s 20-inch LL-S201A is designed for professional users. The combination of a normal monitor with a thin cabinet and bezel and the multi-touch features makes it suitable for working with, for example, Microsoft Office.

The monitor is compatible and optimized for Windows 8, including the many touch features of the operating system. It supports 10 simultaneous touch points and also supports a pen. The monitor’s stand allows users to tilt it all the way down to table level and with “Palm Cancellation“ the monitor lets you rest your palm on the screen while using the stylus pen.

Sharp’s multi-touch monitor also supports Microsoft’s Office Ink Tool that allows you to make notes or draw on top of presentations, excel sheets and other forms of documents. There is also an option to let the monitor rest in a 10 degree angle on a table. Lastly, Sharp has added a 180 degree rotation function that lets you rotate the picture to show it to a person sitting on the other side of a table.

Sharp’s monitor uses an UV2A panel that is a variant of Sharp’s high-contrast VA panel.

Sharp LL-S201A is available now through professional AV and IT resellers, says Sharp. See the specifications sheet here.
