Samsung has two new 2014 Evolution Kits

Samsung introduced the first TVs with Evolution Kit in 2012, and when the new 2014 TVs arrive, Samsung will also start selling two versions of the Evolution Kit that can add the 2014 features to an older Samsung Smart TV.

Samsung’ Evolution Kit will be available in two versions in 2014; one for Full HD and one for Ultra HD. The first one can be mounted to the backside of the Full HD TVs, just like in previous years.

The version for Ultra HD TVs is called OneConnect. The external media box holds all the connections, and connects to the TV via one cable.

The new Evolution Kit will add Samsung’s 2014 Smart TV platform (that looks identical to the 2013 platform), a faster Quad Core Pro processor and the new
The new Evolution Kit adds primarily 2014 Smart TV platform ( similar to 2013) , a faster Quad Core Pro processor and the new Multiscreen feature. The new motion-enabled remote control is also included.

In addition (some only relevant for OneConnect):
  • HDMI 2.0
  • HEVC decoding up to 4K in 60 fps .
  • HDCP 2.2 (copy protection)
  • MHL 3.0 (connect a tablet to playback 4K content on TV)
  • USB 3.0

    The Evolution Kit for Full HD models is expected to sell for the same price as last year’s model. The OneConnect is expected to be around 100-150 dollars more expensive.
