Eizo’s latest monitor is unique. It is not like all the others. Eizo calls it EV2730Q and with a 1920x1920 pixel resolution it is “wide all around”.
Eizo EV2730Q is “wide all around”
The 26.5-inch monitor is perfectly square and compared to a typical monitor with 1920x1080 pixels the EV2730Q has 78% more pixels, says Eizo.
The extra vertical space is perfect for displaying information, Eizo believes. It allows you to put more data on your screen without have to scroll through documents or pages. This also makes it ideal for CAD or other applications that demand a complete overview.
The monitor is based on a matte IPS panel with wide viewing angles. The stand allows you to adjust height, tilt and swivel, but since the monitor is a 1:1 square there is obviously no need for a pivot option. The monitor can reproduce sRGB and is also flicker-free. Additionally, it has an USB hub and built-in 1-watt speakers.
Whether the new square format will catch on is hard to say at this point, but Eizo will release EV2730Q in the first quarter of 2015 so we will find out soon. No pricing information has been announced.
