Eizo’s new 31-inch ColorEdge CG318 is a dream come true for cinema and media professionals. The monitor combines 4096x2160 resolution with the cinematic DCI color gamut.
Eizo CG318 is a professional 4K monitor
The monitor is designed for people working professionally with video creation and editing in media, cinema, animation or broadcasting
CG318 can reproduce 98% of DCI-P3 used in cinemas and 99% of AdobeRGB. It also comes with pre-calibrated modes for Rec.709, sRGB and SMPTE-C - everything in Cinema 4K resolution. The combination sets it apart from pretty much any other monitor out there.
Eizo is clearly aiming high with CG318. Besides the pre-calibrated modes, it utilizes a 10-bit IPS panel with a 16-bit LUT (look-up table) to ensure very accurate color reproduction. A shading hood is available to minimize ambient light and it is also flicker-free.
The monitor can be connected to a PC or Mac via two DisplayPort 1.2 or two HDMI 1.4 ports. However, only DisplayPort will offer full 4096x2160 resolution at 60 Hz.
No price has been announced yet, but Eizo says that CG318 will begin shipping in April 2015. It comes with a five year warranty and with a calibration software suite. More information is available on www.eizo.com here.
