Better glasses-free 3D in 2015 - announcement at CES

The company Stream TV and partners will launch glasses-free 3D products globally in 2015. The plans will be announced at CES 2015.

Glasses-free 3D in 2015

Most consumers have forgotten about 3D TVs but the company Stream TV still believes in technology and hopes that a glasses-free version will once again excite consumers.

Over the last few years, the company has been working on a so-called Ultra-D technology that can enable glasses-free 3D experiences on TVs and monitors. They promised to launch it in 2013 but nothing happened.

- “Stream TV brings its 4K Glasses-Free 3D using Ultra-D technology to a global market in 2015. Announcement includes details of brand partners, product descriptions, anticipated pricing and releasing schedule. The company also shares plans for a content ecosystem, revealing significant strategic partners committed to creating content in the Ultra-D format.” says the CES press invitation.

Ultra D – glasses-free 3D

We saw the technology in action around one year ago. The technology has potential but we were not completely convinced.

Stream TV says that the consumer products will be based on “4K Ultra-D technology” and that the higher resolution should improve the 3D experience. Hisense is one of the partners expected to launch a glasses-free TV, but UK-based Cello has already been confirmed. Cello will sell a 50-inch TV for Ł2500 pounds.

We have to wait for CES 2015 to kick off to learn more.
