LG has announced US pricing details for its new Ultra HD LCD TVs, including a wide color gamut model. Only one of the new UHD OLED TVs will be launched in spring.
Prices for LG’s 2015 TVs
LG’s first wide-color gamut LCD TV will start at $3,699 and the new 65” EG9600 UHD OLED TV will set you back $8,999 when it starts shipping in April. LG also has a range of other more affordable Ultra HD TVs.
The price for the new 65” EG9600 OLED TV is high, but remember that these are suggested retail prices and once the TVs get into stores, retailers will start competing for your attention – and money. LG has not announced pricing details for its other 4K OLED TVs. LG told us at CES that they will be launched later in year, possibly over the summer. The 1080p OLED model will continue to be available in 2015.
LG has yet to share details on the new line-up, but says that all of the models below will include webOS 2.0 and HEVC for 4K streaming (Netflix and Amazon). LG even mentions YouTube as a 4K partner, which suggests that LG has implemented a VP9 chip in addition to the HEVC chip. However, this has not been confirmed. LG touts a “Cinema Screen” design and Harman Kardon sound for the UF8500 series.
