You will still get Amazon’s video streaming service with your Prime subscription but you can now also subscribe to Amazon Prime Video as a stand-alone service for $9 dollars per month.
Stand-alone Amazon Prime Video
Netflix is the biggest streaming provider but Amazon has ambitions to challenge them on a worldwide scale.
Amazon’s latest move is to offer its Prime Video service separately. Previously it has been bundled as part of Amazon Prime for $11 per month, which also gives you free shipping, access to music, and more. The video service will continue to be bundled into Amazon Prime but if you prefer you can now also subscribe to it as a stand-alone service.
Amazon Prime Video is available for everyone for $8.99 per month. You can cancel any time on a month-to-month basis. You have access to the entire library, including Amazon originals such as Transparent, The Man in the High Castle, and upcoming movies and Top Gear. You also get access to Amazon’s 4K and HDR streams.
Netflix will soon increase its price to $9.99 per month, making Amazon Prime Video slightly cheaper.
