LG announces US pricing for 2016 OLED TVs, starting at $4000

The new high-end G6 and E6 OLED ranges have been shipping for a few weeks now. LG has now announced pricing details for the more affordable but still quite expensive C6 and B6 OLED ranges. All four support HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

The E6 and G6 models were officially announced back in January at CES 2016 and FlatpanelsHD followed up with details on the more affordable C6 and B6. Of the four new OLED series three are flat and only one, C6, is curved.

LG USA has now announced pricing details for all but the most expensive 77” G6 “Signature” TV. One thing is clear, OLED TVs are still expensive as the cheapest of the bunch is a 55” B6 that will be available for a suggested retail price of $4000. However, LG will continue to offer last year’s HD EG9100 throughout 2016. EG9100 is currently available for $1799.

All of the new OLED TVs should offer the same picture quality, more or less, and LG has included 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and a wide color gamut (very close to DCI-P3) in all of them. The TVs are also “UHD Premium” certified.

- "LG OLED TVs' reputation for having the best picture available is backed by TV experts, Academy Award-winning directors and consumers alike – and the ultimate home entertainment experience is even better with new enhancements like HDR," said David VanderWaal, VP of marketing, LG USA. "Our 2016 OLED TVs combine our most advanced TV technologies with future-forward, stunning designs to elevate the TV experience to an entirely new level. And now, with two HDR formats, content has never looked more immersive or more lifelike."

LG emphasizes that its new OLED TVs and “Super UHD TVs” (2016 high-end LCD) are the first to be compatible with both HDR formats, HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Netflix is streaming content in HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and Amazon is currently streaming in HDR10 with Dolby Vision en route. Vudu also offers content in Dolby Vision.

LG’s 2016 OLED TVs are available now from Amazon and are “coming soon” to Best Buy.
