We wrote about the new Eizo S2242W back in February. Now Eizo has officially announced the two 22" widescreen LCD monitors: FlexScan S2242W and FlexScan S2232W.

The FlexScan S2242W offers a native resolution of 1920 × 1200, the same resolution offered by a 24.1" wide format monitor, occupying 10% less desk space than a typical 24.1" monitor.

Also unveiled, the FlexScan S2232W has a standard native resolution of 1680 × 1050 and the same performance as the FlexScan S2242W. Both models employ vertical aligned (VA) panel technology; offering wide 178° viewing angles, brightness of 350 cd/m2, 1200:1 contrast ratio, and a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The monitors also incorporate “EcoView” features. One such feature is Auto EcoView for automatic setting of brightness. With Auto EcoView turned on, the FlexScan S2242W and FlexScan S2232W typically consumes 33 watts and 42 watts, respectively. Other specs include: 178 viewing angels and a 6 ms (g2g) response time.

These monitors have a feature called EcoView Index to encourage environmental consciousness while working. EcoView Index displays an on-screen index that correlates the level of power savings with the monitor’s brightness setting. EcoView features also include a selection of ergonomic stands for proper viewing posture, and EIZO’s EyeCare software utility which prompts workers to take scheduled breaks to rest their eyes.

Both models feature a wide color gamut that reproduces 95% of Adobe RGB.

S2232W and S2242W have also been made available in bundle with the color matching tool, EasyPIX.

Additional Features
  • One DVI-D (digital) and one D-Sub (analog) input.
  • DVI input level adjustment to compensate for image quality degradation that may occur when connecting a monitor with a signal switch box or via a long cable.
  • Advanced factory adjustment of gamma minimizes discrepancies of gamma characteristics and produces more uniform color between monitors.
  • Dual 0.5 watt internal speakers. The optional i-Sound L3 speaker unit (0.9 watts) is also available if greater audio capability is needed.
