The 3DTV exhibited by Sharp is 60-inches large and has a Full HD resolution (1920x1080). Sharp also incorporated a LED backlight as well as the LCD panel technology found in the new LE920, LE820 and LE810 ranges.

The 3D experience on the Sharp 3DTV requires 3D glasses and 3D content. Sharp will be using the same 3D technology as Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and LG.

The method is called frame sequential and uses active 3D shutter glasses to alternate the images for the right and left eye. By doing this the human brain can translate the two separate streams into 3D pictures.

Sharp’s 3DTV has an integrated 3D Blu-ray player delivering Full HD 3D pictures. 3D requires twice as much data as conventional 2D content.

The 3DTV from Sharp is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2010 according to Sharp. The price has not been indicated.
