NEC’s current EA231WMi is a popular model with IPS panel and we have also tested it here at FlatpanelsHD. Now NEC has a replacement ready called EA232WMi and this time it has a IPS panel with LED backlight.

NEC says that the LED backlight ensures a low 31W energy consumption value compared to 43W on the current EA231WMi without LED. NEC also mentions a 1920x1080 resolution in the 16:9 aspect ratio and 14 ms response time. The IPS panel provides 178/178 degree viewing angles and a 1000:1 static contrast ratio.

The new 23-inch EA232WMi should be available from January 2011. The price is not yet official but a few Japanese media says that we should expect it to cost around 37,000 yen, equivalent to 330 Euro or 460 USD.
