NEC has unveiled a new 23-inch IPS monitor with LED backlight. It’s called EA232WMi and is the successor to the much acclaimed EA231WMi model. Expect it to hit the market in Q1 2010.

NEC EA232WMi with IPS and LED
NEC’s current EA231WMi is a popular model with IPS panel and we have also tested it here at FlatpanelsHD. Now NEC has a replacement ready called EA232WMi and this time it has a IPS panel with LED backlight.

NEC EA232WMi

NEC says that the LED backlight ensures a low 31W energy consumption value compared to 43W on the current EA231WMi without LED. NEC also mentions a 1920x1080 resolution in the 16:9 aspect ratio and 14 ms response time. The IPS panel provides 178/178 degree viewing angles and a 1000:1 static contrast ratio.

NEC EA232WMi

NEC EA232WMi comes with DVI (with HDCP), DisplayPort and an analogue D-SUB (VGA) input. It also has a 4-port USB hub, and you can choose either white or black bezel.

The new 23-inch EA232WMi should be available from January 2011. The price is not yet official but a few Japanese media says that we should expect it to cost around 37,000 yen, equivalent to 330 Euro or 460 USD.
