Until now calibration has been a manual process but Panasonic’s new VT30 range comes with an automatic ISF calibration option.
Automatic ISF calibration on VT30
FlatpanelsHD always calibrates the TVs that we are testing but this is a manual process. With Panasonic’s new flagship model, there’s an automatic ISF calibration option developed in cooperation with SpectraCal.

In short, it means that you connect a PC and put the calibrator unit in front of the TV. Then you press start in the PC software and the full calibration starts with test patterns on the TV and measurements from the calibration probe.
With this ISF calibration you can get very accurate colors on Panasonic TV30 – in just 2 minutes. The automatic calibration solution is aimed at retailers but it can pretty much be used by anyone.

Panasonic VT30 is the first TV with automatic calibration. The system has been developed in cooperation with SpectraCal that supplies the required equipment. To enable the automatic calibration you need a box from SpectraCal hooked up to the Ethernet port on VT30, as well as PC software and a calibration probe. The kit costs 600 Euro.

FlatpanelsHD had the opportunity see it in action. In the short video below you can see how it’s done in practice. The TV to the left is the one being calibrated. The TV to the right just reports the finding from the PC software (the same picture that you would see on you PC when calibrating).
