LG is pushing their Cinema 3D technology that takes advantage of the inexpensive polarized 3D glasses that you know from cinemas. FlatpanelsHD recently tested the LW6500 range but back then it was not available in stores. Now LG’s Cinema 3D TVs have started shipping in the US and Europe.

In 2010 all TV manufacturers released 3D TVs with active 3D technology. LG’s Cinema 3D is the first to take advantage of passive 3D that utilizes the much cheaper polarized 3D glasses.

LG claims that Cinema 3D is a much more mainstream 3D technology because the glasses do not rely on batteries, has no crosstalk, causes no eye strain and cost around 1-5 US dollars. The only negative side is that resolution is affected.

The inexpensive LW5600 range (550 in Europe) comes with LED, Cinema 3D and Smart TV but without 240/200 Hz. See pricing below.
  • US - 47” 47LW5600
