Earlier this year Panasonic unveiled their new 2011 TVs with the Viera Connect internet platform and App Store. Today Panasonic opens the App Store to TV App developers.

Panasonic App Store
Panasonic's App Store is already available on the 2011 TV models with a small selection of video and utility Apps and a few games from Gameloft. But Panasonic has bigger ambitions and from today Panasonic is encouraging smaller developers to create TV Apps for the platform.

Panasonic opens their TV App Store to developers

Eager developers can learn more at developer.vieraconnect.com. Panasonic mentions that submitted Apps will have to go through an approval process similar to that of Apple’s App Store.

We hope that Panasonic’s efforts translate into more and better content in the App Store that still has a long way to go. If you own a 2011 Panasonic TV you can find the App Store in the Viera Connect section.

You can also learn more about the Viera Connect platform in our Panasonic GT30 review.
