At IFA 2011 Samsung has announced that they will update their Smart TVs with the ability to playback YouTube 3D videos. Look forward to the updated YouTube TV App in the Smart Hub platform.

Samsung is now expanding their 3D video-on-demand reach with YouTube’s catalogue of 3D videos.
YouTube mostly focuses on 2D videos but users and companies can upload 3D videos. This service was introduced last year as one of Google’s famous “20 percent” project where employees can use up to 20 percent of their working hours on new projects. And with more and more 3D video cameras available, we are sure that we will see a surge in uploads 3D videos on YouTube in the next few years.

And why not let users with 3DTV enjoy all this free 3D content on YouTube? Samsung’s Smart TVs such as the D8000 LED or D8000 plasma will soon offer an updated YouTube App in the Smart Hub interface. The new YouTube App supports 3D videos on YouTube in 720p HD resolution.

The new YouTube on TV app with 3D will be available on 2011 Samsung Smart TV and BD Player globally in the 2nd half of 2011.
