LG wants Flash developers on board for Smart TVs. By enabling the next generations of Adobe’s AIR 3 and Flash Player 11 on next-years Smart TVs, LG hopes to woo developers.

LG plans to attend the upcoming Adobe MAX developers’ conference and reach out to Adobe developers with a proposal to develop and monetize on TV Apps for LG Smart TVs.

At the moment LG’s Smart TV platform does not fully support the Adobe Flash system but LG plans to add AIR 3 and Adobe Flash 11 in their developers kit (SDK). This way, developers can create Apps for the platform and make them available on LG Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, set-up boxes and home theatre systems.

LG claims that the move can allow a range of TV Apps, including video-on-demand and even “console-quality” games. And with Adobe’s new Game Input API, LG could even make tablets, joysticks and smartphones act as remotes. LG’s Magic Motion Remote could also be supported.

LG underlines that the Adobe integration will only work on their 2012 TVs, and that the 2011 models do not support the new system (not even with a firmware update). LG is expected to unveil their 2012 Smart TVs at CES 2012 in Las Vegas this January.
