Samsung has just unveiled their new 9 series monitor with PLS panel, 2560x1440 pixel resolution, and a MHL port. It will be available from March 2012 with a $1199 price tag.

Samsung series 9 monitor

Samsung is following up on last year’s 9 series with a new 2012 variant with a new design. Samsung describes it as ”floating in mid-air”. The monitor is supported by a height-adjustable aluminum stand with input connectors in the base.

The monitor uses Samsung’s own PLS (Plane Line Switching) panel technology and has a Natural Color Expert system that covers hardware color calibration tools and a pre-calibrated profile. Samsung hopes to please photographers and amateur graphic artists with the offerings.

Samsung has only announced a 27-inch variant so far called S27B970. The 27-inch version will debut in March 2012. Pricing will begin at $1199. The monitor will be exhibited at CES 2012.
