Most movies are shot in a format much wider than traditional 16:9 – very close to 21:9 - which means that owners of 21:9 format TVs can avoid black bars at the top and bottom.

Vizio’s CinemaWide TVs also incorporate passive 3D and the internet Apps platform.

The 58-inch model will be available from March 2012 for $3,499.
