Roku released their affordable streaming boxes in the UK in early 2012 after some successful years in the US. Roku now adds the popular UK streaming service BBC iPlayer.

Roku is looking to strengthen their position on the UK market shortly after launch. Today Roku has announced the addition of a BBC iPlayer app.

BBC iPlayer offers internet television and radio services. The iPlayer will compete for Roku users’ attention with other services such as Netflix and Crackle.

- “This is among the first of many significant content partnerships for Roku in Europe and we look forward to making additional announcements in the coming weeks.” says Clive Hudson, vice president for Roku Europe.

Two models of Roku players – Roku LT and Roku 2 XS – are available in the UK and Ireland for suggested retail prices of £49.99 and £99.99, respectively. Roku is also available in the US and Canada. Learn more at
