Danish Lumigon has unveiled their T2 smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2012, and it is particularly interesting if you are looking for a universal remote control. T2 can control your TV, Blu-ray player and much more.

The best remote is the one that you always carry. That seems to be Lumigon’s message with their new Android smartphone that also controls other electronic devices in your home.

With a small infrared eye at the top, the smartphone can send commands to for example TVs. New commands can be added by pointing the remote towards the phone to reproduce the infrared signal. The remote functionality works with both the touch-screen and with gestures, which basically means that you can navigate menus by waving the phone from side to side.

Lumigon’s phone has a physical and programmable “activity button” that can be used for pretty much anything – for example turning on your TV. The button also works while the phone is locked.

Lumigon’s smartphone that doubles as a universal remote control will be available in Europe and Asia in the first half of 2012. The phone also comes with ICEpower sound from Bang & Olufsen and Android 4.0.
