Panasonic has announced a new 145-inch plasma panel with an extremely high 8K (7680x4320 pixels) resolution 16 times higher than Full HD. The plasma panel has been developed in collaboration with NHK.
Panasonic goes 8K
Panasonic has announced the first plasma panel with 8K resolution and the largest 8K panel so far. 8K resolution is 16 times higher than Full HD and has 33,177,600 active pixels in total. The extreme resolution can enable fantastic picture quality with a breathtaking level of details.

Panasonic’s 8K panel is 145 inches large and has been developed in collaboration with NHK. To avoid flicker on the panel, Panasonic had to develop a completely new drive method, according to the press release. No pictures of the massive TV panel have been released yet.
Sharp exhibited an 85-inch LCD-TV with 8K resolution last year that was extremely impressive. Sharp’s panel was also developed in collaboration with NHK. Before 8K TVs become mainstream, 4K TVs will to replace Full HD TVs.
