In an interview with Korea Times, Samsung’s Vice Chairman says that Samsung has received huge order for flexible OLED panels. Apple is rumored to be the customer.

Flexible OLED coming soon

Samsung will start mass producing flexible OLED panels – branded YOUM - in the third quarter of 2012, and according to Samsung’s Vice Chariman they have already received ”huge” orders for the new type of displays.

According to an industry analyst, Apple is one of the customers, and probably also the one placing the ”huge” orders for the new technology. However, this is pure speculation at this point - but Apple has explored designs with flexible OLEDs.

Flexible panels are believed to be one of the new trends in the electronics market and will enable electronics makers to create completely novel designs. LG Display will also start mass production of flexible OLED screens later this year.
