Samsung plans to introduce a Smart TV based on the Google TV platform later this year. Google TV offers access to video services, TV apps and integration with Android smartphones and tablets.

Samsung commented on the rumors some time ago by saying that their Google TV will come with both Google and Samsung premium services, which probably means that Samsung plans to add a skin on top of the Google TV platform – just like on their Galaxy smartphones.

We do not know when to expect the TV but we hear that the TV is actually hidden in a corner of the IFA 2012 show so FlatpanelsHD will try to get some hands-on impressions for you soon.

Sony was the first TV manufacturer to debut a Google TV based on the 1.0 version. LG was the first TV manufacturer to debut a Google TV based on the 2.0 version. You can learn more about the new Google TV in this article.
