The current game consoles are starting to feel a bit long in the tooth, and new generations seem to be nearing. The new Xbox is said to be called just Xbox. It will have Blu-ray, Kinect 2.0 motion capabilities and an augmented reality system that relies on display glasses.
The new Xbox
FlatpanelsHD has previously told you about leaked Xbox information and the latest round of rumors seem to confirm earlier reports.
The next generation of Microsoft's Xbox is said to be called just Xbox. No ‘Xbox 720’ or ‘Xbox 8’, just 'Xbox'. It currently goes under the code name Durango, and Microsoft acknowledged in August that they are indeed working on a new Xbox console.
This is not a leaked image but a mock-up of the new Xbox based on current rumors
The new Xbox will feature a Blu-ray drive and a new generation of the Kinect motion system that now registers movement down to the finger-level. Even more interesting are the details about an augmented reality system that lets users extend the game experience to the living room with display glasses. This is not the first time we hear about this when talking about the new Xbox. The augmented reality glasses will not be ready at launch, it is said. The reports also mention a new "innovative controller".
In addition, we hear that Microsoft plans to implement directional sound, a quad-core processor and 8 GB RAM.
This is still a rumor but it seems that the next generation of game consoles is nearing. The new Xbox is believed to be unveiled at next year’s E3 show. The E3 show is held every June.
