New & more powerful Apple TV coming

Apple has a new Apple TV box coming soon. The new box has a more powerful A5X processor and a chip with improved WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Update: Apple has responded to the rumor by saying that the shape and size is identical and it will be rolled out as a silent upgrade with no new features. Apple did not comment on the faster A5X processor.
Update 2: Apple has made a "silent update" to the Apple TV box. It still uses the A5 chip but a significantly smaller version, according to MacRumors.

The new Apple TV has not been officially revealed yet but FCC has approved it for sales in the US, according to an official filing on the FCC website.

The new Apple TV is identical in shape, and according to AnandTech who has looked through the source code, it will also feature Apple’s so-called A5X processor that was used in the iPad 3. It is unknown what the extra processing power will be used for – besides speeding up navigation.

Anandtech also says that it will incorporate a new chip for improved WiFi and Bluetooth. It is the same chip as in the iPhone 5.

Just a few days ago, Apple released an updated firmware for the Apple TV that referred to a new Apple TV box. The new Apple TV box seems to be ready for a market launch but Apple has not commented on the matter (update: now they have, see the update above).
