The system was actually announced in July, but at IFA 2013 Philips will demonstrate it to the world press and consumers. The concept is called Ambilight+Hue, and Philips wants to expand the Ambilight experience to the living rooms with its Hue LED lamps.

Philips is very committed to its Hue lighting system with LED-based lamps. The Hue bulbs can be programmed, controlled via Android and iOS, and now they can also interact with Philips’ Ambilight TVs.

Ambilight+Hue can expand the Ambilight effect to living room if you have the Hue bulbs installed. Lighting can either follow the colors on-screen or shine with a constant color temperature, for example 6500 Kelvin white or a cold bluish tone. The system can be set up via the Ambilight+Hue app on Android and iOS.

The new system will officially launch with the Philips Elevation TV that has four-sided Ambilight, but it will also work on Philips Ambilight TVs from 2011 and onwards.

Philips has created a demo site where you can try the system with an interactive tool.
