LG’s cheaper Ultra HD TVs were officially introduced in August, and LG now says that they will hit the US this month. The LA9650 Ultra HD TVs will be far cheaper than LG had originally announced, with the 55” model starting at just $3,500.

LG’s LA9700 TVs are the high-end 4K models with Nano LED local dimming. The LA9650 is a cheaper series of TVs with edge LED backlight, but LA9650 still has the full 4K resolution.

When the 65 and 55” LA9650 models were first announced in August, LG said that they would be available for $6,999 and $4,999, but LG has decided to cut prices and release the 65 and 55” TVs for just $5,000 and $3,500, respectively, later this month.

4K TV prices have plummeted in recent months, and just last week Samsung lowered the prices of its F9000 TVs to the same $5,000 and $3,500 price points, presumably to counter LG’s move.
