The PlayStation 4 will launch next week with a modest line-up of TV entertainment apps. 13 apps will be available at launch, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and Sony’s Unlimited services.
TV apps on PlayStation 4 at launch
The PlayStation launches in the US next Friday on November 15th. When you turn on your brand-new PS4 for the first time you can expect a launch-day software update that will add DVD and Blu-ray support. Besides that the PS4 will also come with 13 TV apps.
The list is not very extensive right now. Most of the popular services are included, and more will surely follow later. The only obvious omission is YouTube.
Amazon Instant Video
NBA Game Time
NHL GameCenter LIVE
Sony Music Unlimited
Sony Video Unlimited
Sony says that the PlayStation4 will not support DLNA and mp3 at launch, but that it will be added in a later update together with 4K video output and other features. Learn more in the Ultimate PS4 FAQ.
