LG has announced a slew of new monitors today, including a 31-inch IPS monitor with 4096x2160 pixel resolution and Thunderbolt 2, as well as two 29 and 34-inch 21:9-format monitors. All of them will be showcased at CES 2014.

LG’s new UM95, UM65, UB65 & U95 series

LG’s new monitors are certainly interesting. The first is presented as a “real 4K” 31-inch monitor. It uses the 4096x2160 pixel resolution that movie theatres typically call 4K – also referred to as DCI 4K.

The 31-inch 31MU95 Color Prime monitor is targeted at movie and photography professionals. It boasts a Thunderbolt 2 port and 99 % AdobeRGB coverage, and “professional-level” color accuracy from the IPS panel.

LG has also unveiled two new ultrawide 21:9 monitors in the UM95 series. The 34-inch and 29-inch monitors both come with 3440x1440 pixel resolution, 99% sRGB coverage, and IPS panels. The two models also boast Thunderbolt 2, DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI connectivity, a metallic finish, and are targeted at gaming and movie enthusiasts as well as graphics editing. The monitors can be daisy-chained and are Mac-compatible, says LG.

LG’s UM65 monitors are also 21:9-format IPS monitors with HDMI and DisplayPort, but come with a smaller price tag. They will be available in 25, 29, and 34-inch sizes. Lastly, LG will release 21:9-format UB65 monitors for offices.

LG’s new monitors will be showcased at CES 2014 this January. FlatpanelsHD is in Las Vegas for CES.
