Seiki unveils 28, 32 & 40" 4K monitors with HDMI 2.0

You might know Seiki’s incredibly cheap 4K TVs, but the TV maker wants to sell PC monitors, too. Seiki has unveiled new 28, 32 and 40-inch 4K monitors with HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3.

The big news here is HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3. Those two connectors will allow you to connect a PC with a 4K 60 Hz signal, unlike some of the early 4K monitors out there that were capped at 30 Hz, which is not suitable for PC use.

The monitors are part of Seiki’s Pro line and will offer quality VA panels and 12-bit color processing. Seiki is clearly trying to appeal to more professional users here, but no prices have been announced yet.

Seiki has released the following specifications:
  • VA panel with LED backlight
  • 3840x2160 pixels
  • 12-bit color processing and 14-bit gamma mode
  • HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.3, MHL 3.0, DVI and VGA ports
  • Picture-by-picture (x4) and daisy chain mode
  • USB 3.0 hub (1 up and 2 down)

    Seiki’s monitors will be called 28U4SEP-G0 (28-inch), 32U4SEP-G02 (32-inch) and 40U4SEP-G02 (40-inch) and will be available in Q1 2015.
