Sony updates its 2014 4K TVs with twin tuner

21 Jul 2014 | Rasmus Larsen |

Earlier this year, we heard that Sony was preparing a twin tuner update for its 2014 4K TVs. The update that lets you record a TV show while watching another is now available for the X85, X9 and X95 models.

Twin tuner with a software update

If you already own one of Sony’s latest 4K TVs or are on the verge of buying one, you should update it right away. The latest software update adds twin tuner functionality in some European countries.

A twin tuner allows you to record a TV channel while watching another. In addition, you have all the other typical recording functions such as timed recordings, the electronic TV guide, recording while the TV is off etc.

The update can be downloaded directly from your TV’s menu or from Sony’s support website.

It works with the new X85, X9 and X95 models. Note that Sony’s 2014 models are ending on “b”, whereas the 2014 models are ending on “a”. For example, X9005a is a 2013 model, but X9005b is a 2014 model.
