Panasonic’s new flagship TV is obviously an Ultra HD TV and CX850 will be available in 55 and 65 inch sizes later in 2015, called TC-55CX850U and TC-65CX850U.

The CX850 has a “Local Dimming Pro” system, which control the LED zones individually to increase contrast and improve black levels. It also has many of the same pictures systems as last year’s models, including Studio Master Drive and up to 98% DCI color space.

A new picture improvement highlighted by Panasonic is “Super Bright Panel”, which lets more light through to reproduce more punchy images. A new quad-core Pro processor will take care of all 4K processing, including upscaling.

Panasonic is also introducing a new Smart TV platform based on the Firefox OS. Panasonic hopes that its partnership with Firefox will produce a healthy app ecosystem. The new Smart TV platform has a revamped user interface, along with features such as voice controls, a Xumo guide that recommends new content, 4K streaming support from for example Netflix, and more.

Panasonic CX850 will be available in 55” TC-55CX850U and 65” TC-65CX850U in the US. No specific date or prices have been announced- European launch details have not been confirmed yet either.
