LG is expanding its line-up of multi-room speakers at CES 2015. The most interesting additions are the two new wireless soundbars, one with 700 Watt, and a small portable speaker. All of them can connect wirelessly to LG’s Smart TVs.
New members in the Music Flow series
By now, most people know have acknowledged that flat TVs means flat sound, so most TV manufacturers are releasing powerful speakers for their TVs as a result. In recent years, these speakers have started becoming wireless.
LG’s new LAS950M soundbar is a powerful 700 Watt system, which should improve your TV experience considerably. It can simulate 7.1 surround and comes with a wireless subwoofer. The smaller LAS750M is a 360W system that can simulate 4.1 surround. Both soundbars connect wirelessly to LG’s webOS Smart TVs via bluetooth or WiFi and both support 24-bit HD sound.
Besides being TV speakers, you can use them for streaming music from a smartphone or tablet. You can integrate them into LGs multiroom system, allowing you to listen to the same - or different - music in your house. The speakers form a so-called mesh network that extends the WiFi range so playback remains stable.
LG is also launching the portable NP8350, which is a small 20 Watt speaker. It will not improve you TV sound to the same level as the soundbars but you can connect several of them wirelessly to your TV - for example as back speakers in a surround setup. However, if you choose to do a surround setup you need one of the soundbars, too, as these are needed for surround decoding. Because the speakers run on battery you can choose to connect them as back speakers for your TV only when watching movies, says LG.
