Sony X900C
Twin tuners in all of Sony's European 2015 4K TVs

24 Mar 2015 | Rasmus Larsen |

Last year, Sony introduced twin tuners in its 4K TVs for the first time, making it possible to record one TV channel while watching another. Sony will offer the same capabilities 2015 where all of its European 4K TVs will feature a twin tuner.

Twin tuner for recording

Sony will release six 4K Ultra HD models in Europe in 2015, ranging from the most affordable X83C to the high-end X94C. Sony will also release a curved TV called S85C and flat models called X85C, X90C, and X93C. All of the European 4K TVs will offer twin tuner capabilities. None of the Full HD models will.

To use the recording capabilities of the TVs you must connect a USB hard drive. The recording functionality integrates with the Android TV interface, making it easy to get an overview of your recordings. The twin tuners also make it possible to pause live TV and of course schedule recordings of upcoming TV shows.

If your TV signal is encrypted you will need to insert a TV program card into the CI module to get rid of the TV set-top box from your TV provider. There is only one CI port in Sony’s TVs.

A full overview of Sony's 2015 TV line-up will be published on FlatpanelsHD soon.
