Samsung had already confirmed that its 2015 monitors will support FreeSync. The UE590D models are now available in 24 and 28 inch sizes with 4K resolution and FreeSync.
Samsung’s new 4K FreeSync monitors
The 24-inch U24E590D and 28-inch U28E590D monitors both offer 4K resolution (3840x2160) and up to 60 Hz refresh rate. AMD FreeSync support will ensure that the refresh rate of the graphics card and monitor is always in sync to avoid tearing, judder and lag.
However, the two gaming monitors are not exactly identical. Besides the size difference, U24E590D uses a PLS panel, which is comparable to IPS. The larger U28E590D uses a TN panel that sacrifices picture quality over speed. The latter has a response time of 1ms and the 24” claims 4ms.
Both monitors are equipped with 2x HDMI (one being HDMI 2.0) and 1x DisplayPort, and both use flicker-free backlights.
Samsung U28E590D is available now for $599 in the US and around £440 in the UK. The smaller U24E590D will launch in late July for $399.
