Amazon Fire TV now has over 4000 apps/games

23 Dec 2015 | Rasmus Larsen |

Apple’s tvOS App Store has just over 2600 apps and games, but the Fire TV has far more, says Amazon. There are now over 4000 apps and games in the Fire TV store, including new apps such as NBC, Fox Now, and GoPro.

1000 apps since September

Developers have embraced Amazon’s plan to create a streaming box for the TV. The Fire TV box and Stick now offer access to over 4000 apps and games.

Over 1000 apps and games have been added since September, according to the company. Some of the notable additions include NBC, NBC Sports, Watch HGTV, Watch Food Network, Watch Travel Channel, Fox Now, NPR One and GoPro. Some big game titles include Shovel Knight, Telltale's Minecraft: Story Mode, Dark Echo, and Olli Olli 2.

Amazon Fire TV with 4K

This makes it the largest selection of any streaming media player, even the Roku, says Amazon. Roku has “over 2500” and Google announced that Android TV had 600 apps in June 2015.

Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Stick were recently upgraded. The Fire TV box now supports 4K streaming. Both devices are available from amazon.com.
