First Sharp 2016 TVs are now available in the US, starting at $500

31 May 2016 | Rasmus Larsen |

Sharp is out of the TV business so China’s Hisense has acquired the rights to sell TVs under the Sharp brand in the US. Hisense is now launching its first Sharp-branded line of UHD TVs with N7000. It will be joined by cheaper and more expensive models soon.

Sharp N7000 goes on sale

Sharp was once one of the leading TV manufacturers but today you are buying a Chinese-made TV if you decide to spend cash on a Sharp TV. Hisense sees it as a route into USA and the company will continue to sell Hisense-branded TVs, too.

The Sharp N7000 range is the first to hit stores in the US. It is a line of UHD TVs in 43, 50, 55, 60, and 65-inch sizes, ranging in prices from $500 to €1500. The TVs are describes as “sleek, classic Sharp design with the iconic metal bezel and inverted trapezoid at the base of the TV”. The company says that the TVs are equipped with HDMI 2.0 and are "HDR-enabled”.

Sharp N7000

The TVs are feature the AquoMotion picture processor, developed by Sharp, that also offers backlight scanning for improved motion reproduction.

Sharp was one of the first to join Google and sign on as an Android TV partner. Hisense has also signed on as a partner but strangely these TVs are not equipped with Android TV. Instead, the company has decided to offer a “streamlined smart platform with a proprietary user interface”. There is access to apps such as Netflix, YouTube, and Vudu.

Sharp N7000

Sharp N7000 will be joined by a cheaper and more expensive Sharp models very soon. We have included specifications for all models below. A new Sharp USA site has been launched at sharptvusa.com.

Sharp N7000 is available now from Best Buy and will soon be rolling out to more retailers.
