Sony to release new affordable X70D, X75D and X80D 4K TVs

27 Jun 2016 | Rasmus Larsen |

Sony’s most affordable 4K TV today is X85D but the Japanese company will soon release cheaper 4K TVs in the X70D, X75D and X80D ranges. Sony has not confirmed the information but retailers have spilled the beans.

New affordable Sony 4K TVs

Sony’s TV line-up for 2016 is not very extensive but that will soon change as the company is looking to add three new, more affordable TVs to the line-up.

The three new TV ranges will be called X70D, X75D and X80D in the US, and XD70, XD75 and XD80 in Europe. They will expand the current line-up, which consists of X85D, X93D and X94D. All of the new TVs come with flat design and 4K resolution. It is not clear if Android TV will be included or if it will be reserved to X85D and above.

The picture below is supposedly the new 7 series.

Sony XD70

In Europe, Sony is expected to release XD70 in 49" (49XD7005) and 55" (55XD7005) whereas XD75 will be available only in 65" (65XD7505). Some retailers in the UK have the TVs listed for Ł799, Ł900 and Ł1699, respectively.

In the US, the TVs will be available in the same size classes and sold as 49X700D, 55X700D and 65X750D. The 65” model is listed on Amazon for $1500.

XD80 will be available in Europe in 43" (43XD8005B), 49" (49XD8005B) and 55" (55XD8005B). No pricing details are listed. In the US, X80D will be available in 43” (43X800D) and 49” (49X800D).

Sony did not want to confirm the information when contacted by FlatpanelsHD but we expect to receive the official word soon. Sony has planned a TV-related event in London in late July.
