Microsoft confirms that the 2TB version of Xbox One S will launch in 25 countries on August 2 for $399. Xbox One S is the first console to support gaming in HDR (high dynamic range) and feature UHD Blu-ray.
2TB now, 1TB & 500GB later
Xbox One S will arrive in 25 countries two weeks from now. If you have pre-ordered the console you will get it on launch day, August 2. Microsoft says that you can still place a pre-order but you have to act soon to get it early.
The 25 countries are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States.
Microsoft will launch the 2TB version first. Xbox One S will be the first game console to support HDR (high dynamic range) that expands the dynamic range and color gamut for much improved visual quality. You obviously need a HDR-capable TV to enjoy games in HDR. The first games to be released in HDR will be Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Scalebound.
As FlatpanelsHD previously noted, Xbox One S also stands to become the cheapest UHD Blu-ray-player on the market. It will be cheaper than both Samsung, Philips, and Panasonic’s stand-alone players despite it having full console capabilities, too.
- “With the biggest blockbuster lineup of games in Xbox history coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this year, platform updates to help you stay connected with friends on Xbox Live with even more games across your favorite devices and more hardware options available, 2016 and beyond is looking to be an incredible time to be an Xbox gamer,” said Microsoft.
Microsoft has yet to announce release dates for the 1TB and 500GB versions of Xbox One S that will cost $349 and $299.
