Sony announces PlayStation event for September 7

10 Aug 2016 | Rasmus Larsen |

Sony has invited the press to a PlayStation event on September 7. At the event the company is expected to unveil the new PlayStation “Neo” console with 4K support.

New PlayStation Neo?

Sony has obviously not told the public what to expect but says that it will "share details about the PlayStation business".

The company is expected to unveil PlayStation “Neo”, a faster and more capable version of PlayStation 4 that is said to support video and games in up to 4K resolution. Sony has already confirmed that Neo is a thing and that it will be sold alongside the current console.

- ”We will be selling both through the life cycle,” said Andrew House, CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

PlayStation VR

We might also hear more about PlayStation VR, which is Sony’s first virtual reality product.

The event will be held in New York on September 7 at 3PM ET.

September will surely be an eventful month in the consumer electronics industry. IFA 2016 kicks off in early September, followed by Sony’s event. Apple is also expected to announce new hardware in September.
