The latest 31.5-inch monitor from Philips MMD comes with 4K resolution and an expanded color space. Philips is targeting graphics designers, photographers, and other professional users.
4K monitor with ”UltraColor”
The model name 328P6VJEB does not exactly roll of the tongue but the monitor seems to offer a good package for a decent price. It first and foremost has a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels – also referred to as 4K Ultra HD.
- “This new Philips Monitors display was developed with professional users such as graphics designers, CAD engineers and finance experts in mind,” said Artem Khomenko, Product Manager Philips monitors Europe at MMD. “These are people for whom accurate and vivid on-screen reproduction of fine detail is key to staying productive and effective at work. The combination of advanced colour and resolution technologies makes this display a great fit for professional users looking for extra colour accuracy and resolution at a highly affordable price point.”
Besides the resolution, Philips says that the monitor supports wide color gamut. To utilize a wide color gamut your operating system and programs must support it – otherwise colors will appear wrong.
Philips says that the native color gamut of the LCD panel used in the monitor is capable of reproducing “95% of the NTSC” color space. However, NTSC is not used today and Philips did not say how much of the DCI-P3 or AdobeRGB gamuts are covered.
The monitor has a VA LCD panel with flicker-free LEDs. The stand offers height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment. There are built-in speakers and USB port for connecting external devices as well as HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort inputs for connecting the PC.
Philips 328P6VJEB is available now in Europe with a retail price of 699 Euro. Retailers in the UK are selling it starting from £750.
