The best-selling game console of the eighties is back. Nintendo has released a new ‘NES Classic Edition’ that comes with 30 built-in games, including Super Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong. It costs $60 dollars.
NES Classic Edition
If you grew up in the eighties the NES – Nintendo Entertainment System – will probably make you feel a little nostalgic. The game console introduced millions of people around the world to Mario and other creatures in the Nintendo universe.
And now it is back. Nintendo is launching a ‘NES Classic Edition’ in Europe and the US. The small game console has been slightly modernized with HDMI (for the TV) and USB (for power). Games now longer come on cartridges but are instead stored on a chip inside.
It offers 30 classic games, including several titles in the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises. It also features games such as Mega Man 2, Pac-Man, and Final Fantasy. It is not possible to install additional games.
Sold out everywhere
Sales of the NES Classic officially started Friday. It quickly sold out everywhere. Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and many other retailers are out of stock.
More units from Nintendo are incoming but if you want one for Christmas it looks like you should act soon.
- “We have very limited quantities of this item, however we will be receiving additional quantities over the coming weeks. We will announce when additional inventory becomes available,” says Amazon.
